Consul General of USA Miss Francis mentioned the number of USA companies that have invested and are currently active in South Africa

Ladysmith Mayor Vincent Madlala and his officials recently had a meeting with the Consul General of the United States of America (USA), Ms Francis, regarding share in the country’s economy and investments in the town of Ladysmith. This can be achieved through sustainable, solid and prosperous trade and investor relations between the United States of America and South Africa.
The meeting was held at the Royal Hotel on Friday.
Local Economic Development manager Mr B Xaba shared his views of economic growth in Ladysmith. In his talk, he pointed out that Ladysmith should be given the exposure it deserves, as well as international acknowledgement.
At the meeting, Ms Francis expressed sincere interest in the town’s historical background, its development and all plans of growth; as she had visited the town’s heritage site, which is the Drakensberg.
“The USA sees great potential in increasing trade and investment with South Africa, hence it is KwaZulu-Natal’s number one export target of all the countries in the world. Hence, they have been in a stable and reliable relationship with South Africa for a very long time and are here to stay,” she added.
With her, she had Mr Mohamed (Textile and Apparel expert) to explain in-depth about the industry.
In further discussions, Miss Francis mentioned the number of USA companies that have invested and are currently active in South Africa and the contributions they make on the country’s GDP, based on turnover.
The delegation also escorted the Consul General and her team on a tour of the Siege Museum after the meeting.
