The very reason why solar street lights were erected in Kemps Road has resulted in the demise of some of them.
In November 2014, Umtshezi Municipality erected the solar street lights, hoping that it would shed light on the spate of criminal activities in the area…but it seems that crime may have won this round.
A resident recently pointed out that the solar panels from some of the street lights seem to have been stolen.
“This is just disgusting,” said the angered resident who noticed the missing panels whilst driving past.
