The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) kicked of Heritage Month with an informative event last Tuesday.
Nokwazi Khuzwayo, District Manager of Operations, said while the function was to celebrate Heritage Month, its actual purpose was twofold.
“We were supposed to have held a Women’s Month function last month, but it had to be postponed. We then decided to hold it now in conjunction with Heritage Month, so it is focused on our female officials and about embracing our heritage.”
DHA officials recently attended a workshop about stress management and productivity.
“I have visited a lot of offices and found officials were a bit stressed and I felt these people needed to feel important. This is why we had a life coach at the event to help them. If people are happy at work, there will be an increase in productivity.”
The event also aimed to instil values such as integrity, honesty, respect and dependability..
Sihle Mnyandu from the Department of Health educated guests on health matters.
The function proved to be an ideal way for DHA staff to unwind and re-evaluate their home and work lives for healthier tomorrow.
