Glass everywhere in open veld

Sharp, broken pieces of beer bottles, cool drink bottles and other glass pieces are piled up

Residents are complaining about the broken glass that is thrown in open veld in Centenary Road.

They say it’s a dangerous situation, as children walk through this veld to get to school and back home again.

Sharp, broken pieces of beer bottles, cool drink bottles and other glass pieces are piled up in this veld.

At night, there is no light, making it doubly dangerous if someone had to be making their way through the veld, not forgetting about animals.

Resident Mrs Singh noticed this problem when her dog ran out of the yard and she went through the veld to look for the dog. Mrs Singh was shocked to see all the sharp pieces of broken glass heaped everywhere.

“Who is so bored that they want to create such danger for children and animals?” she says. “I really hope the municipality comes and cleans up this mess. The culprits need to wake up and stop it before someone gets hurt,” adds Mrs Singh.
