The operations were carried out from  January 16 to January 23 in all KZN Clusters. During these operations, a total of 41 unlicensed firearms were confiscated, which include, 31 pistols, four homemade, two shot guns, four rifles and 208 live rounds of ammunition. A total of 46 suspects were charged for possession of unlicensed firearms. They appeared in the various magistrates’ court around the province.

“We will not rest until we recover all the illegal firearms in our province. We are warning all those that are possessing the illegal firearms to surrender them to the local police stations,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni.
