Update: Stab victim not badly injured, say police
"In instances of non-serious injuries, it is left up to the injured person to decide where they wish to seek medical attention"
This morning (September 30), a man with blood on his head and face, and walking up towards Ladysmith Provincial Hospital, was stopped by concerned security guards at Pick ‘n Pay.
On further investigation, it was discovered that the man had been robbed in the Roosboom area. He was robbed of his clothes, shoes and cell-phone. The man claims he knows the men who robbed him.
He made his way to the police station via taxi to open a case against the suspects.
After making a statement, the police told the man to walk to hospital.
Commenting on the matter, police say:
“In matters where the victim is seriously injured, police contact an ambulance on behalf of the injured person. The individual you refer to did not have a serious injury and therefore, upon his arrival at the CSC, he was advised to seek medical attention from either his doctor or the hospital. It must be borne in mind that the cost of the medical attention given (including ambulance fees) are carried by the injured person. Therefore, in instances of non-serious injuries, it is left up to the injured person to decide where they wish to seek medical attention.”
Sharaj Ambulance Services responded and treated the injured man before transporting him to hospital.
