AMAJUBA – 18-year-old Pieter Dreyer was the latest victim of a scam involving been blackmailed with what he claims is a fabricated picture of him in the nude.

On Sunday, September 4, Mr Dreyer, a matric pupil received a friend request on social media from a woman he did not recognise. Seeing that she was a mutual friend of his girlfriend he accepted the request.
Lo and behold, Mr Dreyer’s contact details and other personal information was displayed on his profile, instinctively he received a message on his cellphone from a number that was unknown to him.
“This woman started chatting to me and asked for pictures of myself in the nude,” he said.
Appalled by the audacity of the woman, Mr Dreyer immediately denied her any access to his social media account, but the stalker was quick to the approach as she had already taken pictures from his account and created a collage of him and a display of a man’s genital parts along with Mr Dreyers contact details and full names.

“She sent me the picture and said, if I don’t pay her R1500 she will post it on my social media account and send it to my wife,” explained Mr Dreyer.
The blackmailer was obviously unaware that Mr Dreyer was still a pupil and assumed he was married.
“I immediately told my mother and showed her the picture that this woman had used to blackmail me,” he said.
Mr Dreyer’s mother was flabbergasted by the picture and advised her son to continue talking to the blackmailer in an attempt to get more information about her.
“My mother told me to ask the woman for a bank account number that we can send the money to.”
Believing the blackmailer would reveal the account number, giving the Dreyer’s a good chance of tracking the account holder and reporting her to the authorities.
“She said I should send the money via cash send using a cellphone number she provided.”
It was then evident, the blackmailer became aware of the intention by the Dreyers to track her down and used alternatives to receive the money that would not link her directly.
Mr Dreyer refused to pay the money and proceeded to deny access to the woman on all social platforms.
To date she has not contacted him since.
“I just want to warn other social media users not to engage with strangers,” concluded Mr Dreyer.
