Seen in the above photograph is the late Mpumelelo ‘Mpume’ Mbatha, who was shot in his driveway in the Hospital Park area last night. Social media is flooded with condolence messages to the family and shocked reactions.
Mpumelelo ‘Mpume’ Mbatha was the manager in the office of the uThukela District Mayor.
Armed men shot him and drove away. He sustained three gunshot wounds to the chest, shoulder and neck.
It is unclear at this stage whether his bodyguards were with him or not.
The motive for the shooting is unknown.
