Farm attack suspects denied bail

The seven suspects arrested for attempted farm attacks in September appeared in court yesterday and today (October 10 and 11) and were denied bail.
On Sunday, September 25, the men were arrested in a joint operation mounted by Ladysmith SAPS, the K9 Unit and farmers in the Elandslaagte area.
At least 10 suspects were linked to two attempted farm attacks on Saturday night (September 24) and Sunday morning (September 25).
Police and nearby farmers immediately responded to the attack, with Secure SA co-ordinating the response. Seven suspects were arrested and heavy-calibre weapons, including assault rifles, were recovered.
The police operation was spearheaded by Major Jan van Straten.
