A 26-year-old man was arrested in the Burford area on Monday afternoon (October 10) after Ladysmith K9 Unit officers followed up on information they had received about an unlicensed firearm.
The man was caught with a .45 pistol and four rounds of ammunition.
The pistol’s serial number had been filed off.
The suspect appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court yesterday (October 11), facing a charge of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing to determine if it has been used to commit any crimes in the country.
