3 murderers handed down heavy sentences
Suspects to spend 15 years in jail after viciously assaulting and killing a defenceless man

Three men aged 26, 28 and 35 will be spending the next 15 years behind bars. They stood accused in the Ezakheni Regional Court of a murder that took place during December 2014 in the Limehill area of Ekuvukeni.
The accused were returning from a tavern in the area when they came across 35-year-old Bongani Khuzwayo.
One of them accused him of witchcraft and began to assault him.
The assault escalated, with all three savagely beating the defenceless man. Severely injured, he was left for dead.
The assault victim was later found by residents of the area, but he died before medical help could arrive.
It was later discovered, through investigation, that Paya Siphamandla Mihabela (26), Sandile Themba Mlotshwa (28) and Mingisi Mkhadibo (35) were responsible for the untimely death of Bongani Khuzwayo.
The three were denied bail while the investigation took its course, and the case was finalised in the Ezakheni Regional Court recently. The convicts were also declared unfit to possess firearms.
KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bhekinkosi Langa, hailed the brilliant work done by the Ekuvukeni detectives and their dedication that led to the sentencing of these accused who showed no mercy when killing an innocent man.
“We cannot allow people to take the law into their own hands in this province. This conviction will send a clear message that if you are caught doing so, you will be charged,” he said.
