Taxi driver hijacked and stabbed
A meter taxi driver was stabbed after offering four men a lift.
NEWCASTLE – A meter taxi driver experienced a traumatic night after he was hijacked by four men on Wednesday night.

He allegedly offered the men a lift from a fuelling station in Boundary Road, to a farm just outside of Newcastle.
However, it was upon stopping outside a farm that everything turned sour.
One of the suspects, who was sitting in the backseat of the vehicle, reached over the seat and stabbed the driver in the neck.
The four men then proceeded to steal the driver’s two cellphones and money.
After they had taken the phones and cash, the driver ran in an attempt to evade further injury.
“One of the men then got behind the steering wheel and drove towards Fernwood,” said an unofficial source.
The men allegedly drove to Dundee and Ladysmith, where the vehicle broke down.
“They made their way back to Newcastle and were arrested due to teamwork from both the Ladysmith and Newcastle police officers,” said the source.

Lizzy Aramugam, SAPS corporate communications, confirmed the suspects were arrested and vehicles was recovered in Elandslaagte.
Police investigations continue.
