Ladysmith police urge motorists to be alert when leaving their vehicles parked at shopping centres.
This follows an incident on Friday afternoon, October 21, when police received reports of vehicles parked at a local shopping centre being targeted by thieves.
The thieves attempted to steal a white Nissan Sentra with registration NKR 35198 from the Plaza. They failed in their attempt, and instead damaged the vehicle and made off with items from the car. Police are investigating.
Anyone who may have noticed the suspects is requested to make contact with police so they many identify and bring these suspects to book.
In the interests of keeping your property safe from theft, police advise motorists to take extra precautions to secure their vehicles. Ensure that your vehicle is parked in a secure place when in the CBD or at home.
Take the time to double-check whether your vehicle is properly locked. When parking your car, take the time to look around and if you notice anything suspicious, leave the area and contact the SAPS immediately.
