Uncle jailed for repeated rape of 10-year-old niece

A man who repeated raped his 10-year-old niece has been jailed for life. The Nquthu Regional Court heard on Monday who the 21-year-old man raped the girl repeatedly at Mondlo on May 234 2014 while her mother was away.
A case of rape was opened at Mondlo police station and the docket was transferred to Vryheid Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit and the accused was immediately arrested. The accused made several court appearances until he was sentenced.
“This conviction was secured through hard work and determination by the Vryheid FCS Unit. This proves that the detectives in this case conducted a thorough investigation and gathered all the necessary evidence that led to the life term sentence,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa.
