UPDATE: Elderly assault victim not coping well emotionally

Following an alleged road rage incident last week, 60-year-old Lorna Murdoch-Eaton spoke out about her ordeal, which left her badly injured.”My physical injuries are healing remarkably quickly. The emotional side, not so much,” said the emotional woman.Since reporting the incident to the police, Ms Murdoch-Eaton said she had received an SMS from the SAPS with the case number and the name of a Constable who is apparently investigating the case, but has not heard anything further.

“I’m not certain if I’m supposed to contact him or what I’m supposed to do.  Morne Potgieter of Newcastle 911 has been amazing, and has got onto all sorts of people about the attack.”

According to her, she has never never been afraid of life’s struggles, but is now scared of everything, even contacting the police.

“I am sure that will come right in time. It’s embarrassing to confess that I have become a coward, but if it can prevent him from hurting other women then I guess it’s more important than pride.  He stole my dignity that day, as all abusers do,” she explained.

She is upset about untrue stories that are being spread by some people condemning the brutality of the assault.

 “They are saying things like I hit him first, I damaged his car and I made racial remarks. None of that is true,” she said.Although it is still unknown whether the suspect has been charged yet, police investigations continue.
