Baby strangled, dumped in toilet

The baby was dumped in a refuse bag inside the toilet

An eight-month-old baby is lucky to be alive after it was strangled, placed into a refuse bag and then dumped in a toilet.

The baby was allegedly dumped by the mother in the Rutlands Farm area, Dannhauser.

Warrant Officer MT Vilikazi and Const BD Mdlalose received a call and when they got to the area, they found the child’s uncle who had told them what happened.

The officers then entered the toilet, which was smelling really bad. They searched the toilet and found the black bag inside the toilet bowl.

They also found a red jacket with blood stains on it. When fingerprint experts arrived on scene, the bag was opened and police found that the baby was still alive.

The baby was then rushed to a local clinic. Police are still desperately searching for the mother.

The case is under investigation.

W/O Vilakazi and Cst Mdlalose were commended by the Station Commander for going beyond their duties to save the life of the baby.
