Security guards robbed of their firearms

Four armed robbers held up the guards, disarming them and stealing cash

Armed robbers held up security guards at a money holding business in Progress Road during the early hours of Tuesday morning, November 8. The business where the security guards were on duty is a company that deals with pension funds.

At around 2am, four armed robbers scaled the boundary wall of the business, catching the guards by surprise. The guards were assaulted and disarmed of their handguns. Cash was stolen.

The criminals then attempted to gain access to where the money is stored at the business, but failed in their attempts and fled the scene.

One of the guards had to be hospitalised.

Police communications officer Captain Charmaine Struwig confirmed that the incident was reported to the SAPS and that the case is being investigated by the PMB Organised Crime Investigation Unit.
