Two nabbed for attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearm

The firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used to commit any other crimes in the country

Ematsheni police arrested two suspects, aged 24 and 35 years old, on Thursday morning (November 17) for attempted murder.

An intensive investigation led the officers to the Emcijeni area of Zwelisha, where the suspects were found in possession of a 9mm pistol and eight live rounds of ammunition.

It is believed that the pistol was used during the shooting of a 60-year-old man.

The suspects are due to appear in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court today (November 18), facing charges of attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Bheki Langa praised the police officers involved for swiftly arresting the suspects. “The recovered firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the commission of any other crimes in the country,” he said.
