Mother charged with attempted murder

She told police that she already had two children and was afraid that her parents would be upset when they found out about the third

A 38-year-old woman will appear in the Dannhauser Magistrate’s Court on November 24 on charges of attempted murder.

The woman strangled her newborn baby boy before putting him in a black bin bag and dumping him down a pit toilet.

It was incorrectly stated, previously, that the baby was eight-months-old.

The mother was, in fact, eight months pregnant when she gave birth.

She told police that she already had two children and was afraid that her parents would be upset when they found out about the third, so she tried to kill him.

The baby is alive and currently in hospital.
