Savvy salesperson scoops award
Joewayne is not only adding up figures as his job as a sales consultant for African Bank but also adding numerous achievements to his name
Armed with an eye for customer service, an ear for customer needs, and many savvy sales tips up his sleeves, Joewayne Naicker is taking the world of finance and sales by storm.
Joewayne is not only adding up figures as his job as a sales consultant for African Bank but also adding numerous achievements to his name – the most recent of them is being awarded a Digital Planet award.
Digital Planet and African Bank are in partnership and host monthly competitions to give incentive to the sales consultants. “I won the latest incentive, which was to sell the most laptops possible. I sold six laptops in one week and received an Edgars gift voucher worth R2000.
“I was the only consultant in my region to achieve this,” Joewayne beamed. Other than the impressive digital award, Joewayne is the proud holder of 50 other certificates, numerous incentives, vouchers and even holds the title of Top performer nationally.
At 26-years-old, Joewayne is juggling studying towards his Regulatory Examination, Level 5 (RE5) qualification, being a sales consultant for African Bank, marketing the banks products and assisting with African Bank’s identified community based- initiatives.
When asked what prompted him to follow this career, Joewayne’s eyes gleamed when he explained, “I’d say that it was my desire and passion to work with people from different backgrounds. As time went by and I gained more experience in my field, the drive for success took over!”
With the mantra of success on his lips and drive in his heart, Joewayne continues to push forward in his career. However, like all things in life there are challenges and highlights.
“My greatest challenge is hanging onto my title of top performer! It is a very competitive environment, but I am confident in the relationships that I have built with my customers over the years. Highlights definitely include having the opportunity to assist people and seeing the joy in their faces when I am able to offer a solution to a crisis or a dream they may have,” Joewayne said.
He also added that, “of course, being recognised for my achievements – receiving incentives, vouchers and over 50 certificates – is a great benefit of my job!
“I am proud of my performance and contribution to African Bank and this undoubtedly has built my reputation as an achiever within the organisation”.
Joewayne attributes his success to his mother and explained that the sales profession requires tolerance, empathy and resilience – qualities that his mother instilled in him.
When Joewayne is not topping the sales charts, he is spending time with his girlfriend, who he refers to as “the most beautiful-hearted person ever”.
Joewayne left readers with a few secrets to success: “Always be receptive towards your customers’ needs regardless of what you are facing, personally. Show empathy and be attentive. Most importantly you should possess the ability to separate your personal problems from work”.
