Update: Prisoner escapes jail to change clothing?

According to W/O Khan, the suspect said he needed a change of clothing and that is why he left the court

Police have released information concerning the prisoner who escaped from holding cells at the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court yesterday (November 28) and then handed himself over to court officials later in the day.

Despite all the security measures in place at the court, the suspect managed to slip out of the building.

“A suspect is alleged to have managed to walk out of the court cells and was later found back at court,” said Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.

According to W/O Khan, the suspect said he needed a change of clothing and that is why he left the court.

Police have launched an internal investigation to determine how the man managed to get out of the cells in the first place.
