SAPS Calls for dogs to be donated to the K9 Unit

VRYHEID SAPS are looking for donation dogs to join their Dog Unit.

According to Captain Chris van Eck, the police have had a great shortage of dogs recently and this is the reason they have put out this request.

The police appeal to any members of the public who can bring forward Border Collies, German Shepherds, Cocker Spaniels, Labradors, Belgian Shepherds, Bloodhounds, Rottweilers, Golden Retrievers, German Short-haired pointers and Jack Russels, to do so as soon as they can.

The dogs need to be between nine months to 3 years old. Crossbreeds will only be accepted if they meet the SAPS’ requirements. They must be confident, energetic and not afraid of people and loud noises. They must be able to walk on a leash and should have a strong and even temperament.
