Two unlicensed firearms seized in Loskop

The group followed up on information, which led to the arrest of a 55-year-old man for the possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol and ammunition at Mqedandaba area

Recently Amangwe police, working together with the Public Order Police (POP) Pietermaritzburg traced and seized two unlicensed firearms.

On November 20 the group followed up on information, which led to the arrest of a 55-year-old man for the possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol and ammunition at Mqedandaba area.

The suspect appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court where the matter was not enrolled pending further investigation.

Once the investigation is finalised the matter will be referred back to court for a decision on whether to prosecute or not. A second suspect, aged 40, was arrested on November 29 at about 11.30pm at Ngodini area.

Police recovered a 9mm pistol and ammunition. The suspect appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, November 30.
