Robbers target Connor Street businesses

A neighbouring toy shop was invaded by the suspects, as the door was left wide open

Three businesses in Connor Street were on robbers’ radars and one business was broken into.

This was discovered by business owners who, when they arrived at their premises on Monday morning, found that locks and doors had been tampered with.

One of these businessmen was George van Niekerk who found the lock and chain on the door to his business missing. It was later found on the street by a cleaner.

A neighbouring toy shop was invaded by the suspects, as the door was left wide open. Mr van Niekerk said it appeared that no stock was stolen but this could only be verified when the business owner returned to Estcourt.

“It seems like the suspects were either looking for money and couldn’t find any or they were disturbed,” commented Mr van Niekerk.

A third business owner also found that the lock on the door was damaged. Nothing was reported stolen and the police were alerted.
