1 arrest, drugs recovered by TRT and K9 cops

The total value of the drugs seized is estimated at around R10,000

Operations by K9 and Tactical Response Team (TRT) officers over the weekend resulted in one arrest and the recovery of various kinds of drugs.

On Friday evening (January 6), K9 officers were conducting patrols in the Ladysmith CBD when they came across a suspicious-looking man. He was searched and in his possession the officers found a plastic packet containing seven capsules. It is suspected that the capsules contain heroin.

The 31-year-old man appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Monday (January 9).

 On Saturday, TRT officers were patrolling along Illing Road when they came across an abandoned hessian bag. On opening the bag, it was found to be filled with dagga.

A quick search of the surrounding area resulted in the recovery of 10 mandrax tablets.

The total value of the drugs seized is estimated at around R10,000.
