Police recover sheep stolen from Mooi River farm

The sheep were found bound with rope in a bush in Mooi River

On the trail of stock thieves, Mooi River police reaped success when they recovered four suspected stolen sheep.

A Mooi River farmer, on December 30 counted his sheep at Northineton Farm and all were accounted for. However, on New Year’s Day, after a count, the farmer noticed that four sheep were missing.

“The local police were contacted at they started to follow a spoor that led them to a nearby forest where the sheep were found. The owner managed to identify his stolen sheep,” commented police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane.

The sheep were found bound with rope in a bush in Mooi River. A case of stock theft has being opened and is being investigated.

“The Stock Theft Unit is investigating the case and we are appealing to anyone who might have information about the whereabouts of the suspects to please contact any Stock Theft Unit or our Crime Stop number 08600 10111,” said Lt Col Zwane.
