The 46-year-old suspect who has been charged with abduction and having sex with a minor (statutory rape) was granted bail in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court this morning (January 12).
The accused was represented by Advocate K Augustine.
Clean-shaven and dressed in a grey T-shirt and black pants, the 46-year-old stood in the ‘box’ before the magistrate in B-court.
Part of his affidavit, read by Advocate K Augustine, stated that the accused is self-employed, married with three children, and that he supports two of his children and his wife.
The magistrate granted bail of R1500 ‘on conditions’ that the accused is not to interfere or communicate with the complainant until the case has been finalised.
The case was remanded to February 15, 2017, for further investigation.
