Update – Manhunt for illegal immigrants on the run, continues

Official information has been made available to the Estcourt and Midlands News, that eight illegal immigrants were being deported to Krugersdorp from Durban earlier today in a Home Affairs vehicle.

Nearing the Lion’s River turn-off, the driver noticed two of the occupants getting out of the bakkie.

Realising that the immigrants were escaping he raced to the Mooi River Plaza where the other six suspects managed escape just before the driver could bring the vehicle to a stop.

“The police from Howick were summoned and they managed to arrest four suspects. They are still in the area looking for other suspects,” commented Police Spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele.
