The tragedy sparked a wave of grief throughout the community with a friend of Kayleigh's, Candice Bond, launched the Angel Wings Appeal to help raise money for the family through the Back a Buddy website.

The family of three-month-old Ella James Klienhans, who died in a horrific car smash on the Glencoe by-pass, had to go through more anguish this morning when the case against the driver of the car. that slammed into Ella’s parents’ vehicle, was again postponed in the Glencoe Magistrate’s Court.

Grandfather, Jackie Coetzee, was hoping the case against the accused, Mrs N Ndlovu, a school principal from Newcastle, would be finalised today.  She pleaded guilty to charges of culpable homicide and reckless driving following the tragic events of May 15 2016.

Ella was in the vehicle with her parents, Darren and Kayleigh, when a Fortuner smashed into their vehicle at the Uithoek Street/Glencoe by-pass intersection.

It is alleged that the Fortuner skipped the stop street. Ella was taken to Dundee Hospital by a passing motorist, Johann van der Merwe of Nottingham Road, where she later succumbed to her injuries.  Darren and Kayleigh were travelling back to Pietermaritzburg after visiting Kayleigh’s family including mum, Julie-Ann and Jackie in Dundee.

The tragedy sparked a wave of grief throughout the community with a friend of Kayleigh’s, Candice Bond, launched the Angel Wings Appeal to help raise money for the family through the Back a Buddy website.

Magistrate Cassim postponed the case for sentencing to February 13 as the Correctional Services officer, who was to have given a report on the suitability of Mrs Ndlovu receiving a sentence of correctional supervision, was on leave.  Jackie told the Courier that all the family was closure.
