Over 1000kg of dagga was seized on Thursday morning (January 26) after police officers from Upper Tugela SAPS and personnel from the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) joined forces in following up on an anonymous tip regarding dagga.
The team concentrated on the Moyeni and Dukuza areas, where they conducted searches.
They seized 28 bags of dagga in the Moyeni area and 61 bags in the Dukuza area.
The suspects immediately fled from their homesteads and hid in the mountains when the team arrived at their target areas.
The recovered drugs weighed in at over 1000kg, with an estimated street value close to R2 million.
