Dagga recovered at roadblock near Ladysmith

Seven people were handed down fines for various road traffic violations

Police from Winterton, Bergville, Upper Tugela and Ematsheni joined forces with Okhahlamba Protection Services to hold a roadblock along the Emmaus Main Road on Friday.

The roadblock focused on the illegal transport of drugs and firearms into the area.

One person, a 29-year-old man, was arrested for driving while under the influence of liquor.

Two people were arrested for possession of dagga. A 45-year-old was found with eight grams of dagga, while a 23-year-old man was arrested for possession of 1.55kg of dagga.

Seven others were handed down fines for various road traffic violations.
