Clamp down on crime in the CBD

Six men, aged between 22 and 27, were arrested during the crime prevention operation held on Thursday during stop-and-search operations

In a bid to reduce crime and criminal elements in the central business district (CBD), police officers embarked on a ‘clean-up campaign’.

Six men, aged between 22 and 27, were arrested during the crime prevention operation held on Thursday during stop-and-search operations. All the suspects were found in possession of dagga.

The estimated street value of the dagga is R1 500. All the suspects opted to pay admission of guilt fines.

Estcourt Visible Policing officers were out in force to clamp down on crime in the CBD, focussing mainly on drugs and liquor offences that are often the root causes of or contributors to more serious crimes,” explained police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.
