Beware of criminals targeting people withdrawing large sums of money

Instead of withdrawing money from the bank, consider safer options such as electronic transfers or Internet banking

After recent incidents of people being robbed after withdrawing cash at banks, police would like to issue a warning to members of the public to not withdraw large sums of cash from banks, as they put their lives at risk of being killed by ruthless thugs.

People are once again urged to refrain from carrying large sums of cash due to the high incidence of gangs targeting people carrying cash.

“Consider safer options such as electronic transfers or Internet banking,” said KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Bheki Langa.
