‘Jealous’ boyfriend sentenced for murder

Mayaba stood accused of murder after he strangled Grace Hloniphile Mazibuko using a piece of electrical cord

Recently a ‘jealous’ man who had murdered his girlfriend was sentenced to a term of imprisonment. Mayaba Phindani Simo (34) was sentenced on January 19, by the Estcourt Regional Court to eight years imprisonment, two years of which was suspended for five years.

Mayaba stood accused of murder after he strangled Grace Hloniphile Mazibuko (35) on January 10, 2017 using a piece of electrical cord.

He accused her of having a relationship with another man. After his arrest and appearance in court he pleaded guilty to the charge against him. The sentence was handed down just nine days after the incident.

The case was investigated by Sergeant MV Vilakazi of the Estcourt Detective Service.
