Uthukela Cluster cops make arrests for drugs, firearms

Police officers working in the Ezakheni area made three firearm related arrests

During crime prevention operations held in the Uthukela Cluster from February 1 to 5, police arrested 17 people for drug and firearm related crimes.

In Ntabamhlophi, four people aged 36, 28, 26, and 31 were arrested at Dutch Location, Shayamoya, and Bosch Location after being found in possession of dagga weighing between 7 and 14 grams.

Amangwe SAPS added to the successes by arresting a 41-year-old man in Moyeni who was in possession of 18 grams of dagga, while police in Bergville arrested a 28-year-old man along the R616 who had 14.2kg of dagga with him.

Upper Tugela police also arrested a 30-year-old man in Dukuza for possession of dagga.

Police officers working in the Ezakheni area were responsible for three firearm related arrests.

A 36-year-old man was arrested after having been found with an unlicensed revolver and five rounds of ammunition in St Chad’s.

Two men aged 33 and 32 were arrested in D-Section for possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol plus seven rounds of ammunition and a revolver with 11 rounds of ammunition.

Some of the suspects appeared briefly in various courts across the Cluster, while the bulk of the suspects appeared in court yesterday (February 6).
