WARNING: Hijackers take to playing with ‘dolls’

Hijackers are allegedly preying on people's emotions to hijack vehicles.

NEWCASTLE – Hijackers are allegedly upping their game and it seems there is no end to their ingenuity.

A concerned Piet Retief resident recently warned motorists on social media that the latest scam of hijackers was to rely on a Samaritan to stop at a life-size doll next to the road, before pouncing on the unsuspecting victim.

Police Communication Liaison and Marketing spokesperson, Lizzy Arumugam, said police were unaware of this modus operandi, but requested the public to report such behaviour immediately.
