Foreign nationals arrested for drug possession

Amangwe police officers discovered dagga weighing over 200kg in a minibus

Five suspects, of which four are foreign nationals from Lesotho, appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (February 8) on charges of drug possession.

The five – aged 21, 35, 36, 49 and 55 – were arrested on Tuesday at about 9pm by Amangwe police officers who were working in the Nkomokazini area.

While police were conducting stop and search operations, they came across a minibus with five occupants.

Upon searching the vehicle and occupants, they discovered a large amount of dagga which weighed in at 222kg.

The dagga has an estimated street value of around R350,000.
