Police Communication Liaison and Marketing spokesperson, Lizzy Arumugam encourages residents to be vigilant when walking alone and has supplied the following tips:

1. Avoid daydreaming.

2. Scan surroundings and look for “ways out” should something happen.

3. Pay special attention to individuals who change their behaviour upon spotting you.

4. Avoid quiet areas, but rather choose to walk in the most populated areas, as it is much safer.

5. It is also important to conceal valuables when walking.

6. Pedestrians are encouraged to change their routes regularly.
