A three-day-old baby girl was found at the Acaciavale dump site this morning (February 13).
The baby was still alive when she was spotted by community members who were going through recently dumped trash.

The baby was found wrapped inside a pair of tights with the umbilical cord still attached.
An elderly lady held and comforted the baby while they waited for emergency personnel to arrive.
By that time, however, it was too late and the baby was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
According to paramedics, there are many factors that could have caused the baby to die, including no medical attention from the time of birth, no nutrition and the conditions at the dump site.
A large crowd gathered in the area to see if the little life could be saved.
An inquest will be held into the baby’s death and should foul play be suspected, murder charges could be laid.
