Car guard embraces technology

Paying a car guard is as easy as scanning a code

Have you ever gotten to your car and realised that you don’t have change for the car guard?

Well now you can pay them with your smartphone.

Sabelo Buthelezi, a car guard in Durban’s Windermere suburb, has been using a mobile app called Zapper to receive payments from motorists.

Sabelo has been watching vehicles in the area for over 2 years and is well known to locals.

Instead of giving him cash, motorists can scan a QR code, making payment directly to his bank account.

Would you pay car guards via smartphones?
