Parking meters in Ladysmith cause outrage among motorists
Motorists say that all people using the parking bays need to be treated equally
Motorists are furious about the parking meters in town and how the meters are run.
A motorist had a run-in on Tuesday afternoon with staff who are currently controlling the running of the machines in town.
The motorist stopped and as soon as he got out of his car, he was confronted by a member of the company running the meters, who forced him to pay the R2 fee at the parking meter. The motorist paid with no complaints.
While the motorist was in his vehicle, he noticed that a large number of people were not paying the fee at the parking meter.
A huge concern to the motorist was that the staff who make sure you pay only go and ask certain motorists and leave other motorists alone.
The motorist also noticed a truck parked in the parking bay in front of him, which occupied two parking bays and didn’t pay the parking meter.

The motorist confronted the truck driver and asked him if he had paid. The driver of the truck evidently told him that he pays monthly according to the company that runs the parking meters.
Other motorists said that all people using the parking bays need to be treated fairly and if some people are not paying, they won’t pay either.
