“Bombs” and double murder was no April Fool’s joke

A night of drama and tragedy

Dundee was abuzz last night with news that ‘bombs’ had reverberated around the Mpati and other areas at around 9.30pm.

While rumours of the phantom post box bomber making a return, ATM bombers on the prowl, the bangs were apparently caused by an exploding gas cylinder on Browning Street although the veracity of this report still has to be confirmed.

Police also reported a tragic double murder in Dlamini Village last night.  Two men and a woman were walking in the area when they spotted the woman’s former boyfriend.  A quarrel ensued during which the woman’s current boyfriend stabbing the ex who died at the scene.

The knifeman fled the scene but was pursued by members of the public.  He was caught and beaten up. He too died of chest and head injuries.  It is not clear if there was a shooting involved that may have been the source of the ‘bangs’ heard from the Sibongile area. Police are investigating.
