Glencoe police make huge dagga bust

When police inspected the Tazz they were surprised to find it loaded with mealie bags full of compressed dagga.

A huge 180kg haul of dagga was seized by Glencoe Police after two men in a car attempted to avoid a roadblock in Dundee.
The action unfolded last Wednesday, at around 10am, while Road Traffic Inspectorate officers were manning a roadblock outside Dundee. A white Toyota Tazz with tinted windows failed to obey instructions to pull over and drove towards Glencoe, with traffic officers in pursuit. The Glencoe SAPS was contacted and a patrol van saw the suspects’ vehicle driving on Alice Street, at the entrance to Glencoe.

Upon realising the police were onto them, the two men abandoned the car and fled into the surrounding thick bush. A man hunt was launched but up until now, there has been no news of their whereabouts. When police inspected the Tazz they were surprised to find it loaded with mealie bags full of compressed dagga.
The street value is estimated at around R1,2-million.
It is believed the 180kg stash had been packed ‘ready for the market’. A cellphone was also found in the car. Glencoe Police later ascertained that the Tazz had been stolen in KwaThema in Gauteng and the VIN number tampered with.
