“I was so overwhelmed by the number of people who knew Titus. He really was a people’s person and was ever-ready to help anyone. I would say that he left a Madiba-like legacy, after listening to the tributes people paid to him. We would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers during this difficult time,” said a tearful Mrs Chetty.
She added that they had a close-knit family and that her husband always put his family first, remarking that people would often see the family walking to town with their five-year-old son atop Mr Chetty’s shoulders. She reminisces about how hours before he was shot; he arrived home with a special supper treat for his son.
“I still feel like he is going to come back home and stand at the gate, calling for me to open it. It’s just so unreal,” said Mrs Chetty.
