Police roadblock recovers Ecstasy, other drugs and money in central Dundee

Police believe this may lead to the arrest of other drug dealers in the town

Fifty four Ecstasy tablets and powder, valued at over R16 000, other drugs, and around R17 000 in cash, were found in a car this morning that was stopped at a roadblock on Oldacre Street.

Police stopped the ND registered red Polo in the vicinity of Dundee Junior Secondary School. A search revealed the drug stash and money.  The 35-year-old driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was arrested and is presently being charged at the Dundee Police Station.

He is said to be a Congo national and gave police an address on Union Street as his residence.

Police spokesman Captain Mbense praised members manning the roadblock for their vigilance.

“Hopefully this will lead to the arrest of more drug dealers in this town.  We need to stop the drug scourge in this town,” Captain Mbense said.  The suspect is expected to soon appear in Court.
