SCAM ALERT: Disastrous storm in Durban not a cyclone
Severe thunderstorms and gale force winds up to 90 km/h have been experienced in the Greater Durban area.
Social media has been inundated with video footage and reports about the devastating storms experienced in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal from this morning.
The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has issued a flood warning for parts of Northern Natal, Ugu District, Ethekwini and iLembe areas.
Flooding Warning 10/10/17 12h00 – 14h00 Flash flooding is possible over parts of Northern, Ugu, Ethekwini,and iLembe areas next 3 hrs.

Severe thunderstorms and gale force winds up to 90 km/h have been experienced in the Greater Durban area. However, SAWS reported it was not declared a cyclone and is expected to calm down later this afternoon.
Please note: Current system over KwaZulu Natal due to CUT-OFF LOW. it is not a tropical cyclone. Expected to calm down late afternoon.
