Bikers bid a brother farewell

Dumisani Ntshangase, who was co-founder and treasurer of SISONKE MCC in Durban, had been travelling home from the memorial service of a fellow biker when his bike skidded underneath a taxi and he was declared dead on scene.

IT WAS with great sadness that Durban based motorcycle club, Sisonke MCC, rode to Vryheid with the body of one of their leaders, Dumisani ‘Dura’ Ntshangase.

Dumisani Ntshangase passed away in a motorbike incident on Sunday, October 1.

Friends, family and neighbours gathered at the Ntshangase home on Friday the previous week to prepare for Dumisani’s funeral and sadness and despair hung gloomily in the atmosphere, despite their smiles and kind words to one another.

Dumisani, who was co-founder and treasurer of SISONKE MCC in Durban, had been travelling home from the memorial service of a fellow biker when his bike skidded underneath a taxi and he was declared dead on scene.

Dumisani, who was a quantity surveyor by profession, is said to have been a humble person who loved people.

“Even the neighbours are still taken aback by his untimely death. He was a wonderful child, who was always willing to help where he could,” said his aunt, Sizakele Ntshangase.

Bikers raise their helmets to show respect as Dumisani’s coffin is carried into his home.

His little sister and only sibling, Anele Masondo, said that she would always remember him as her fun brother who always made her feel special.

“No matter where he was, he never forgot that Sunday was our ice-cream date day. I will miss him,” she said with teary eyes.

His best friend, Phumlani Dlamini, recalled how they met in Durban while looking for work and that they were motivated to start the club as a means to reach out to the community and combat social ills like drug abuse.

“Dumisani was like a brother to me, we went to rallies in various places. We did our best to grow the club and currently have 56 members in this club that we started in 2010. We are not blaming the motorbike for this accident as accidents can happen in any situation. He died a hero as he was doing something that he loved and had dedicated his life to doing good for others. We love him and will miss him dearly” said Phumlani

Local motorcycle club, Bikers 4Eva, were also there to extend their condolences.
