Warning: Dam gates are open due to heavy rain
All pumps along the Tugela River will have to be removed by uThukela to prevent them from washing away

In an alert message sent out on social media, uThukela have warned the community to exercise caution as the Spioenkop Dam gates have been opened today (March 23).
Due to the heavy rains that are being received in the Okhahlamba catchment area, uThukela staff at dams have no choice but to open the gates and release water.
People and farmers are cautioned that high water levels will be experienced in the rivers today (March 23).
