Kaizer Chiefs supporter outraged at the behaviour of fans at Moses Mabhida Stadium

Fans started banging objects and once the referee blew the final whistle, the crowd started running onto the ground

Video footage has gone viral on social media of the chaos that erupted after Kaizer Chiefs lost against Free State Stars last night (April 21) at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The incident has sparked outrage and shock on social media.
Video footage shows fans damaging property, setting seats on fire, throwing chairs and knocking over camera equipment at the stadium.
Thus far, two people have been arrested and charged for public violence and malicious damage to property.
A male security guard was viciously hit and kicked by the fans.
SAPS spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says, at this stage, the suspects have not been linked to the assault.
Investigations are still continuing.
Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela announced his resignation after the incident.
During an interview with diehard Kaizer Chiefs supporter and spectator Hans O’Reiley (who is formerly from Ladysmith), he expressed his disappointment and outrage at what unfolded at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
According to O’Reiley, the build-up to the chaos started minutes before the final whistle was blown.
Fans started banging objects and once the referee blew the whistle, they started running onto the ground.
“We are all tired of Chiefs failing to impress us. We all wanted Kompela out, but to go to this extent?
“I really think my support will shift to another team. I will not be associated with Chiefs if this is the way the supporters behave. I’ve been supporting Chiefs since the Dr Khumalo era. Chiefs stood for love and peace, now it’s mere destruction. I’m heartbroken witnessing what I did yesterday.” (comment taken from Facebook)
