JUST IN: Body of missing Newcastle teenager recovered at Durban beachfront

Durban police have opened an inquest docket, after the body of a Newcastle teenager was recovered from a Durban beachfront on April 23.

According to KZN SAPS Media Spokesperson, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele the 17-year-old boy was allegedly a part of a rugby team from Newcastle who had been in Durban for a camp. He was reported missing on April 22.
“The body was recovered on Wedge Beach after the Durban Metro Police and the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit were called out to the scene.”

The identity of the teenager has not yet been released, and the matter remains subject to police investigations.
